Google OS for netbooks

Filed under: General — admin @ 6:35 am

This has been coming for some time now, Google have been creeping around the software sector for some time, with apps giving users the opportunity to use email, browser and now an operating system that has been designed for netbooks. The way that Google see it is that most netbooks are using Windows XP; this has been around for eight years or so and has been designed to work with Pentium III and IV processors. Whereas today’s netbooks are using x86 and ARM chips, Chrome OS has been designed to work with these.

Features of the Google Netbook OS:

Lightweight open source OS to be available on netbooks in the 2nd half of 2010

It will be fast, light weight

Minimal interface just like Google Chrome

Will run on both x86 and ARM chips

It is basically Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel

Will support all web-based applications
